9 pm: Time for American beer monsters
!!!!
American Brewers in Belgium - a pilgrimage to Mecca
with Kuaska as the guide of our
Magical Mystery Tour (March 3rd – 8th)
Sam Calagione, Tomme Arthur, Vinnie Cilurzo, Rob
Tod, and Adam Avery will be touring
Belgium and participating in a number of high-profile
events featuring their-Belgian
inspired beer. Sam Calagione put the trip together
as a feature in his forthcoming book:
EXTREME BREWING to be published in the fall of 2006.
“In writing this book I wanted to
make sure I conveyed the idea that Extreme Brewing
didn’t start with Dogfish Head or
even the American Craft Brewing Renaissance but that
it has been a part of the Belgian
brewing tradition for centuries.” Says Calagione,
“So I wanted to take a trip with a few of
the great American brewers that I have gotten to know
who share my passion for extreme
beers.”
The goal of the trip is to introduce Belgian brewing
luminaries to the extreme beers being
made in the states while allowing the American brewers
to pay respect to the country with
the most inspiring brewing heritage of the world.
Lorenzo “Kuaska” Dabove , the famed
Italian beer writer and enthusiast, will act as a
guide on the tour and has organized a
packed itinerary of amazing events.
In addition to covering the trip in the book, the
brewers will each contribute information on
their own companies and homebrew-version recipes of
their extreme beers to the book.
Photojournalist Kevin Fleming, whom Reader’s
Digest has called “America’s best observer”
will make the trip to document the American brewers
and the beauty of the Belgian
Brewing Tradition for the book.
